What is PVC Footstep?

A PVC Footstep is a fixed, U-shaped access step grouted into the walls of manholes, inspection chambers, sewage tanks, sump tanks, underground water tanks, and utility pits. It is used where ladders cannot be used and safe vertical movement is required for maintenance staff.

In modern construction it has completely replaced conventional Cast Iron (CI) and Mild Steel (MS) steps because it is rust-free, chemical-resistant, and non-conductive.

Construction & Material Composition

There are 2 main constructions in the market, both covered under PVC Construction & Utility Products:

1. Encapsulated Type (Most Popular - Heavy Duty):
High-strength Mild Steel (MS) core encapsulated in heavy-duty, corrosion-resistant Industrial Grade PVC coating. The PVC protects the steel core from sewer gases and moisture.

2. Polypropylene / Virgin PVC Type:
Made from Virgin PVC or Poly Propylene for lightweight applications. We use only virgin PVC material, guaranteeing high strength and longevity.

Installation Guidelines

Keep spacing 300mm to 350mm vertically center-to-center.
Grout 150mm on both sides into brick masonry or RCC wall while construction.
Ensure grip pattern faces upward.
For retrofit, drill 2 holes, fill with rich cement mortar (1:3) and insert step.
Allow 24 hours curing before use.
