Types Available in 40mm

Standard Type: Both bars have right-hand threads. Most used.
Position / Lock-nut Type: For when neither bar can rotate - one bar is long-threaded with lock nut.
Reducing / Transition Coupler: Connects 40mm to 32mm or 40mm to 25mm.
Weldable Coupler: One end threaded for 40mm bar, other end welded to steel plate/beam.
Left-Hand + Right-Hand: For repair or closure joints.

Common Types

Parallel Threaded: Standard sleeves where matching threaded rebar ends twist tightly inside.

Cold Forged: Rebar ends are hydraulically squeezed thicker before threading to guarantee the parent bar breaks before the joint does.

Transition / Reducer: Used to join two bars of different diameters, such as a 25mm column bar to a 20mm upper-level bar.

Why 40mm Coupler is Critical?

Under IS 16172:2023, a full-strength coupler must develop at least 125% of the specified yield strength (fy) of the parent bar and failure should occur in the rebar itself, not in the coupler.
